About Shiatsu
Cross-stretch for the back muscles.
Shiatsu is a unique Japanese bodywork system.
Sometimes called Japanese physiotherapy, it works the entire body
through stretching, gentle joint manipulation, and pressure techniques
to balance energy and enhance the body's ability to heal itself.
If we peek behind the curtains of Shiatsu, we find Traditional Chinese
Medicine. Shiatsu uses the same concepts of 'energy movement' as
acupuncture. Instead of stimulating the body with needles, the practitioner
uses thumbs, fingers, palms, and in some instances, elbows, and
even their knees and feet.
Shiatsu therapy is usually applied with the recipient lying on a
futon (a soft, upholstered mat), however in some circumstances,
a chair or a massage table may be preferred and employed during
the treatment.
Neck & shoulder stretch in side position.
A Shiatsu treatment often results in feelings of relaxation and tranquility, and people also report feeling invigorated in the days following treatment.
For many people, Shiatsu represents a valuable tool in maintaining
an increased sense of well-being in mind and body.
